OK. So You're Here Already!
Got a Place To StayTonight?
By Amy Williams, Yosemite News Writer

YOSEMITE VALLEY -- Most accommodations inside Yosemite National Park can best be described as "no frills." Some have no electricity or indoor plumbing. Other than the Ahwahnee and Wawona hotels, lodgings tend to be basic motels or rustic cabins.
Except during the off-peak season, from November through March, rates in Yosemite are pricey given the general quality of the lodging. Reserve well ahead, especially during summer; you can reserve up to a year and a day in advance.

Looking for Hotel rooms or cabins? Call Central Reservations, 5410 E. Home Ave., Fresno 93727, PHONE: 559/252-4848. They handle reservations for all lodgings within Yosemite National Park.
There are approximately 1,800 campsites in the 12 drive-in andtwo walk-in campgrounds at Yosemite National Park. In addition, backpackers can hike to numerous backcountry areas where they can pitch a tent away from the crowds.
Wilderness permits are required for overnights in the backcountry; you can get these at visitor centers and ranger stations or by reserving for a $3 fee through the Wilderness Office in advance of your trip.
Most of Yosemite's campgrounds are found in Yosemite Valley and along the Tioga Road. Glacier Point and Wawona have one each. None have water or electric hookups, but there are dump stations and shower facilities in Yosemite Valley year-round.
The dump stations in Wawona and Tuolumne Meadows are open in summer only. Several campgrounds operate on a first-come, first-served basis. While it's sometimes possible to get a campsite upon arrival by stopping at the Campground Reservations Office in Yosemite Valley, this is a risky strategy. Some 400 sites remain open year-round.

Will you settle of a campground? O.K. the dial 800/436-7275. Or go online at http://www.reservations.nps.gov, the rangers at the other ond handle reservations for all valley campgrounds, with the exception of Sunnyside Walk-in and Backpacker's Walk-in.
You can also contact Yosemite Campground Reservations to reserve Hodgdon Meadow from May to October, and Crane Flat and half the sites at Tuolumne Meadows for as long as those campgrounds remain open. Beginning on the 15th of each month you can reserve a site up to five months in advance.

Good Luck!

Nature Notes
"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves."
